Busy start to 2007 for Active Ice

Last year was spent wrapping up some projects, all of which were to go live in January. Early January saw the ‘official’ launch of Oak Valley Wine Estate, a project which lasted around 2 months. The site includes my ajax basket system and the client is licensing Seed from us (Article, News, Gallery and Chainbox modules).

Following closely on that was Donna Terra, a fine jewellery store (spelt jewelry on their site for SEO) who sell items up to half a million rand online. I think the cheapest item is around R20,000 so unless you have some serious money to burn, enjoy window shopping. The site is e-commerce and uses PayGate (Standard Bank) as it’s payment gateway. Michelle Mclean (Miss Universe 1992) is a Director of Donna Terra and also models their jewellery.

After that came Swagg Clothing, a supplier of high-quality golf clothing and accessories. Swagg sponsor a number of up and coming players and their clothing sets the standard. The site includes an adaptation of my basket system, similar to the one used on Oak Valley.

Then it was the turn of Africa Cafe Ceramics. Africa Cafe Ceramics is run by The Africa Cafe restaurant (which we are busy rebuilding too). They manufacture and sell crockery which is custom painted in their unique African styles. It’s the same crockery used in The Africa Cafe restaurant so it’s a nice way of tourists/visitors keeping a memento. It’s a high quality product and we have built them an online ordering system which uses an adaption of my cart system and moofx Accordion to help manage the size of the order form.

During this period we also sold two of our new Active Ice - Guesthouse products. The product is fairly new but it’s definately value for money for our clients. Here are the two Active Ice - Guesthouse sites we did this month:
http://bayviewguesthouse.co.za and http://constantiasillery.co.za

Cape Town Book Fair (biggest book fair in Africa) is in the process of propagating this weekend - this version of the site will be up until Phase 2 is added in March. The site is close to 60 pages of static content excluding article/gallery system etc. You can view it here - provided that it’s propagated: http://www.capetownbookfair.com (if it has a picture of table mountain at the top, that is the old site) If their old site is still up, you can preview our new version here.

Also during this time the new ‘Unofficial SAAF website‘ is really starting to take shape. I’ve developed 6 modules so far including Aircraft, Weapon, Base, Squadron, Article and Gallery. George has done most of the designs and it’s really coming together. I’ve been integrating phpBB into Georges new template. We are set to launch on 15th March. It should be a dramatic improvement on the interface of the current site and also allow Dean Wingrin to spend less time on maintenance.
