Cape Town Geek Dinner

Filed under General, Meetups by Brett Reid at 12:49pm May 29th, 2007

Having never been to one of these before, I was fairly excited to see what it had to offer. The talks seemed to be interesting and so did the food. Ben, our PHP developer, joined me for the evening. The turnout was very good, I didn’t do a headcount but it looked like more than the 27 dinner. A quick visual scan confirmed this was indeed a geek dinner.

“The second in the new series of original GeekDinners will be held at The Wild Fig on Monday, the 28th of May, at 18:30 for 19:00.”

More details can be found here:

I have never been to one of these but it looks a lot more geek than the 27 dinner, well at least there are more speakers and ALL topics are on programming. Ben and (possibly) Mike are also coming along.

27 Dinner was very cool…

Jackie and I decided to attend the 27Dinner in Cape Town. It’s sponsored by Stormhoek and you can read more about it here.

I saw Kevin Tucker there and had a nice chat to him about his www.pricecheck.co.za site. I was nice to be around people who are as passionate about web/programming as i am. We sat with Jason, Gerry, Adele and Jacques. The Speakers were interesting, particularly Ian Gilfillan. The food was good and it was a great evening!

I must also take this opportunity to say just how cool facebook is and how, not surprisingly, it’s running on PHP…
